"Formidable Rivals" Wraps at 9.4%
The KBS2 TV Monday-Tuesday drama, "Formidable Rivals," ended on June 3rd, with the final episode ratings unable to break through 10%. According to AGB Nielsen Media Research, the last episode of "Formidable Rivals" did, however, receive the highest rating (9.4%) of its broadcasts. The drama started airing on April 14th and its average TV ratings were calculated at 7.7%. Starring Chae Rim, Lee Jong-hyuk and Lee Jin-wook, "Formidable Rivals" was a TV drama about the lives of Secret Service agents who worked at the Blue House. Though the plot was unique, it was overshadowed by the popularity of the MBC period piece, "Yisan, Wind of the Palace." On June 3rd, the TV ratings of "Yisan" were 28.9% and the ratings of the SBS drama "Tokyo Sun Shower" were recorded at 4.2%. The production filling the "Formidable Rivals" spot will be the martial arts period drama, "Chil-wu, the Mighty," starring Eric and Ku Hye-sun. Its first broadcast will be on June 9th.
Lee Jin Wook and So Yi Hyun cast in MBC series "Before and After: Plastic Surgery Clinic"
Lee Jin Wook, So Yi Hyun and others have been cast for the lead roles of the upcoming MBC drama series "Before and After: Plastic Surgery Clinic." This series will start airing on January 6th. Lee Jin Wook will play the young clinic owner Han Geon Soo who tries to protect the clinic from being taken over by loan sharks. He tries his best to save the clinic when uncollected loans are passed on to him after his father's sudden death, but cannot even hold a mes because of a medical accident. Kim Sung Min will play the talented doctor Choi Yong Woo who joins the clinic to return the grace of Han Geon Soo's father. Choi Yong Woo is a character that often gets into arguments with patients that want to undergo unnecessary plastic surgery. So Yi Hyun will play the nurse Yoon Ki Nam who forms a love triangle with the two. Jung Ae Yeon will play the manager Yoon Seo Jin who has perfect beauty through plastic surgery.
Younha, Actor Lee Named Anti-Corruption PR Envoys
Singer Younha and actor Lee Jin-wook have been named as publicity envoys for the anti-corruption Clean Wave Campaign. The two will attend the appointment ceremony Monday and perform their duties for one year. The anti-corruption committee cited Younha's clean and pure image and her exemplary behavior since her debut and Lee's upstanding image established through his drama roles. The ceremony will be attended by a hundred teachers from across the country. The singer and actor's activities will include participation in the Campus Clean Wave, a similar campaign for teenagers, and International Anti-Corruption Day events.
